Goodbye Stock Photo Subscriptions! 🙌

What is DALLE-2?
DALL·E 2 is an advanced AI tool that can create pictures based on written descriptions. It's like having a personal, digital artist who can quickly turn your ideas into visual concepts.

What is Midjourney?
It’s very similar to DALLE-2 in that it generates images based on text-input, but Midjourney is actually the name of the team and the tool. Just keep that in mind when you’re searching for it.

Well, you now have the ability to generate an image of any kind - photorealistic, artistic, futuristic, cinematic, infographic, human, animal, whatever - plus the ability to create that image with any style or emotion you want. This is extremely powerful.

This technology can have a lot of different uses in your business. Here are a few:

• Creating custom product images

• Generating royalty-free images for blogs & articles

• Making your own highly personalized and targeted Ad Creatives

• Designing logos quickly

• Mocking up of a new Brand faster than ever

• Creating virtual environments for Customers to visualize an idea

At the very least, these tools can save you time and money.

You no longer need a stock photo subscription to spend hours looking for the "right hero image". If you can describe in words what you’re looking for, you can have it within seconds. It’s basically a highly trained, highly skilled, unpaid designer on your staff.

This also means that you no longer have to worry about licensing rights on your business copy, blogs, emails, or most importantly, advertisements.

OpenAI - the creator of DALL-E 2 is very clear about this: "Users get full usage rights to commercialize the images they create with DALL-E, including the right to reprint, sell and merchandise."

If you create the prompt that generates the image, then you own the rights to use that image. Of course, this is the subject of much discussion, but "dems the rules" right now, and it’s very likely to stay that way.

• Midjourney (https://www.midjourney.com/home/) - Click on "Join the Beta" and you’re off to the races.

First off, my rule is to never make a decision about an AI tool until you’ve actually used it. Reading this is not enough. Hearing about a tool is not enough.

You need to use these AI tools for yourself.

I spent weeks describing ChatGPT to my very good friend, describing how powerful it was, how I was using it in my business, literally every day I had something to share about what I was learning. They were always positive about it, but I could tell a bit uninterested.

Fast forward to this past week, and I get a text … "WOOOOOW this ChatGPT thing is incredible!!" followed by 4 or 5 screenshots of prompts 😆 So yes, you should try it first.

DALLE-2 vs Midjourney.

A few notes on the similarities and differences between the tools, and tips to get you started.

First off, they’re both free to try. If you want to become a regular user, then you’ll need to pay. For Midjourney, that’s a monthly fee. For DALLE-2, you pay for "credits" that you use when generating images.

If you need a photo-realistic image, use DALLE-2. If you’re generating more artistic or animated styles, use Midjourney.

Also, DALLE-2 can only generate images up to 1024 px by 1024 px in resolution. So if you need very high quality assets, Midjourney takes the cake with quality and can even scale up low-res images for you.

Midjourney runs inside of Discord (another software tool). Discord is an animal unto itself. So if you’re not used to using Discord, you may find it a bit confusing at first, which is a good reason to start with DALLE-2.

🎁 Wrapping Up.

We have never had these sorts of tools at our fingertips before. Image model AIs are brand new in the hands of your "average joe". Much like how the internet was going to change everything, but we didn’t really know how - in 1992 - every business would be using the internet in 2023 … so are many of these tools and models today.

The ability to use words to create visuals within seconds - simply put - is a superpower. It’s changing all sorts of verticals like entertainment, media, gaming, advertising … and certainly, business.

At the very least, use it to save some money on antiquated, bulky stock photo websites charging ridiculous monthly subscription fees that still require 5 hours to comb through their archives, and spit an idea into one of these tools to get a perfect image custom created in 10 seconds. And in the best case scenario, implement these image modeling tools into your workflow now, so that your own mind and creativity can press their limits. You may just create the use case that we ALL will be using in a few months and years from now.
