Already the Biggest Week in AI

It’s only the beginning of the week, but we can already say this is the BIGGEST week in AI this entire year.

OpenAI changed the game again. ChatGPT is now multi-modal.

Why is that a big deal?

▶️ Multi-Modal AI’s are the next wave in AI. It’s here.

Up to this point, we’ve had specific AI tools that do one thing really well.

» Writesonic reads and generates text very well (language model).
» Midjourney makes incredible images for you (imaging model).
» ElevenLabs generates incredible audio (audio model).
» OpusAI can ingest video data and output video (video model).

A “multi-modal” tool is one that can span across multiple modes, both in input and output. In other words…

If you can use one tool to feed in data, and use the same tool to get data out, in different formats, then that tool is multi-modal.

And you could see how it’s much easier, and more efficient, to go to one tool to get something done instead of five.

That’s been incredibly difficult. Until now.

ChatGPT can now “See” (input/output images), “Hear” (input voice/audio) and “Speak” (output audio) [Official Release from OpenAI here].

▶️ DALLE-3 is here. And it’s WAY better that the old version.

OpenAI also released DALLE-3 recently - big few days for them!

The big news here is that it works within ChatGPT, inline, making ChatGPT a one-stop tool for text and images.

Here’s a video on how DALLE-3 can be used in ChatGPT. Pretty incredible.

If you’ve used DALLE-2 before, you know that it didn’t hold a candle to Midjourney when it comes to realistic and photographic generative content.

The gap has closed quite a bit with this new release.

Let me be clear - the ability to use this directly INLINE with ChatGPT is a huge update. 

Again, using the same tool to generate prompt ideas, and then sending that prompt to get real images and creative back, is a giant leap forward.

▶️ Now… Your Business. How Will You Use This?

Great question. Who cares about new fangled updates if it doesn’t actually change the real world, right?

Well, not really, but in this case … in this newsletter … right!

I’ve been brainstorming for business leaders since this news dropped. How could this be used to change business operations? Some thoughts:

• Customer Support
  You could train ChatGPT on your product or service. Then customers could use a Chat application to ask questions, upload images of their problems with the product, describe the service or what’s happening with a voice recording, and ChatGPT can provide an INSTANT solution. Think mechanic fixing an engine, a plumber fixing a sink issue, or tech consultant fixing a laptop issue.

• Training and Onboarding
  A company could use ChatGPT in their hiring and onboarding process. New folks can ask questions, show images of tasks or steps they’re unsure about and get immediate feedback based on your already defined policies and processes.

• Accessibility
  Inclusivity and Accessibility are at the forefront in many verticals. This gives you Voice and Vision capabilities, with no extra work. For example, like the bike video above, they can describe the issue over voice chat, or snap a photo of the problem, without needing to have audio capabilities via a phone call.

• Healthcare
  If you’re a medical professional or in Health & Fitness, your patients or customers could use this describe symptoms verbally, or even show images of the problem. This gives ChatGPT, trained in your approach, the ability to give them a quick response, as well as prepare you in advance for a consultation.

• Real Estate
  Show ChatGPT images of your property! It can kick back suggestions on design, area demographics, or based on other local statistics, the value of the property itself. Crazy powerful.

• Restaurants / Chefs
  Show ChatGPT your dish creations. It can give you suggestions for food pairings, better plating options, other dishes using the same ingredients, or even wine pairings.

OK - it’s impossible to go through each vertical here and make the application. These are just a few areas, without me even knowing much in those verticals.

The magic is in you. You know your vertical better than anyone.

Now that you know what’s possible, it’s your job to make the connection FOR your target audience.

I really can’t believe how fast that happened. I suggested in an early publication, months ago, that whoever created that first “multi-tool” would completely overhaul the system. I think it happened, this week.

The business that uses these tools and new features to solve real pain, faster and more efficiently, will quickly rise to the top.
